Awaiting a date
Hi to all..
I am new to this group, I have been reading your posts for about two
weeks now.
I live in Australia and am finding it extremely difficult to find
alot of Australian information on Gastric Bypass surgery so if I have
to log into an American site so be it!! Atleast there is a support
group. I am seeing the Surgeon for the second time which is when I
will get my date for surgery!! Woo Hoo can’t wait!! I am 180kg which
I think is about 395 pounds So I have alot of work ahead of me I know
but I am Soooo ready for this.. I am going to have the Gastric Bypass
hopefully Laparoscopically but there are no gaurantee’s so I would
like to hear from people about there experiences with either way..
And how much weight loss is everyone averagingper week?
I hope to hear some news soon.
Thankyou to you all for having such a strong Support Group.

Kylie,
I had a lap but my surgeon warned me that if he was having any difficulty he
would convert it to an open procedure. Supposedly a lap procedure is an
easier recovery but I’ve heard a lot of people who had open and did really
well. I think a lot has to do with your condition before surgery and how you
tolerate pain. I don’t remember being in terrible pain but I think the
morphine pump dulled my memory! Good luck on your surgery!
