Stomach Pain Question

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

I’m a 4 month post-op, or will be in 3 days, and I am having a lot of stomach
pain right now. It seems to go away when I eat something, but later comes
back. Does anyone else experience this?

It sounds like you have unresolved issues to deal with. You really should
start seeing a therapist to learn what those issues are and how to deal with
them other than by eating. You went thru a lot to get where you are now.
Don’t give all that up. Even if it’s financially a problem to see a
psychologist/psychiatrist, find a way. Your physical AND mental well being
depends on it.

Memorials?

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

I’m posting looking for support. I am pre-op awaiting insurance
approval and surgery date. My dear friend had open RNY 3/19/03 and
died this week 4/13/03. She never left the hospital after
complications from a leak that developed 24 hrs post op. She had 2
more surgeries for repair but died from sepsis due to intestinal
fluids (full of bacteria) leaking into her abdomen. We were looking
forward to both being on the other side and were a great support to
each other pre-op. Could someone please let me know if their is a
site for WLS memorials, I would like to honor her their if possible.
I am also asking for prayers for her 3 young adult children as they
grieve. Thanks all-God Bless!!!Phoebe

WLS & Thyroid Meds & Tea

Friday, December 23rd, 2005

Hi Everybody !
I had my open RNY on March 10th, 2003. At my 30 day post-op visit; I
had lost 25 pounds ! And with NO hunger; which was the amazing part.
I had thought I would have lost more, but 25 # OFF is a WHOLE lot
better that 25# ON !
However, when my PCP did yet another thyroid check (surgical
removal) …..I was off-target ! You’d have thought (after losing 25
lbs..) I would have needed my Levoxyl dose reduced, BUT because of
the mal-absorbtion of the RNY; I have had to UP it to 250 mcg.
……which means I’m still in for a long fight…..But at least NOW,
I have the “TOOL” to whip this ! I’m just going to be a SLOWWWW
loser. :-( (patience…patience….NOW ! )
So if you’re on thyroid meds….and slow losing…have the lab work
done… ! You may need the meds “DOCTOR” adjusted…
I have also found out thru trial & error; that EVERY TIME I drink

fighting depression -still

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Unfortunately, this doctor is the only “network provider” for this surgery on my
insurance. I learned early on not to complain. It’s their game, and all I can do
is wait and hope everything works out well. Dotti in Vancouver
still no word on surgery date, and if they can fit me in before May 1 and my
insurance expires
Still very depressed

Sorry to bother everone one more question

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

What have people done about excess skin? I have a lot and it is
causing back pain. I have debated taking out extra student loans to
get the skin removed. Its a shame to go through all of this, lose
the weight and still look heavy from the skin. Any information
would be helpful. I had the surgery done by Dr. Roll in No. VA but
I now go to law school in southern cali. (south of LA). Any
recomendation would be great.
Thank you all…take care and god bless,
Kristina

over a year and hungry

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Hello all,
I have been very bad at writing with this group, mostly because I’m
bad at getting help, but I’m scared. I had my surgery on July 19,
2001 (278 lbs) July of 2002 (178 lbs) and as of yesturday…180.
I’m having a huge problem with over eating. I do so even though I
get sick. I’m sooooo scared of gaining the weight back. Any
suggestions?
Told myself I would never let my weight get up again, and I’m
heading down that road.
Sincerely and God Bless
Kristina

Two months post op

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

today I went and had my two month weigh-in. I have now loss a total
of 69 lbs since my surgery. I have loss 3 shirt sizes and 3 pant
sizes. Each day is still a learning lesson for me. I take each day
one at a time and try to learn from any mistakes that I make a long
the way. I enjoy the compliments that I am receiving and the way that
I am starting to look. My energy levels are good.
I don’t do a lot of posting in the group but I wanted to just give my
success story and wish everyone much success with their days ahead.

duplicate surgery

Thursday, December 22nd, 2005

Does anyone know of a person who has had the surgery twice? I know
someone who had the gastric stapling years ago, then had to have
it “re-routed” due to the fact the hole was too small. Can he have
another surgery?
