cycle question

I am 3 weeks postop. I never cycled without progerterone preop. I did
have some slight bleeding in the hospital, but it ended as soon as I
stopped taking the blood thinner (it was a combination of that an my
IUD, which had me spotting for months until recently). I haven’t had
anything close to a real period since January. Should I expect that the
low-carb/weight loss will actually bring on a period, or should I get a
scrip from my OB/GYN? Anyone have the surgery and not eventually get a
period?

Barbara, thanks for replying - I do have PCOS, my first baby was
conceived w/Rezulin, second w/Glucophage - I was taking diabetes drugs
for PCOS before taking diabetes drugs for PCOS was cool! I haven’t been
taking my glucophage postop - are you saying you did take it postop or
you used it preop to lose? I didn’t think I’d be taking it postop…but
I am willing to reevaluate that. It gave me diarrhea (even when I cut
out sugar) preop, but I don’t have the IBS I did preop (that was fast,
it only took a week from surgery!), so maybe it wouldn’t bother me as
    much now…
I do have an IUD, it is copper only. I figured I’m messed up enough,
why throw any more hormones into the mix? Plus the nuva ring made me
feel all crampy and bogged down, so I decided no hormones was best for
me. I am glad that the constant spotting seems to have stopped! It
took 4 months, but I am glad because this IUD is fantastic otherwise.

I just saw my doc yesterday… he said it was perfectly normal for the female
cycle to be off. The reason is because your body is going through lots of very
fast changes, not to mention that estrogen is stored in fat cells… so, as you
lose weight the estrogen is unlocked. Just ride it out… :) Sandi

Well, I would if I’d had a period anytime recently, but it’s been since
January and I generally take something to get one every 3 mos, so I’m
already behind. I was just under the impression that most women got a
period fairly quickly after surgery - I guess that’s not the case.
