OK Tammy. I hear you. If this surgery has told me anything it is that we
are not failures, that personal responsibility is important but that we are
challenged by our bodies. If you want to vent this is a good place but I am also
going to try to help and I don't mean to be tough, just effective. You can give
up or get help and I want to see you get help because I never like to see anyone
in pain.
Where are you going to go to get this help? Have you called your surgeon?
Is there any difficulty in your recovery? Has he looked to see if your pouch
has decided to re-heal with your tummy? It happens! Have you been xrayed or
scanned to see if there are ulcers causing pain that is interpreted as hunger
causing you to graze and gain? If not that WHAT ELSE? Your doctor/surgeon
should go looking so make an appointment!! Today. Don't take no for an answer!
OK. What else has changed in your life? Recent stressors both happy and
sad can cause us to revert to past habits. What are you eating? HOW are you
eating? Are you following pouch rules? I bet not.
<!--more-->
But, what else are you not doing? Are you alone or isolated during the day?
Are you involved in your support group in a professional way? How about get a
job or hobby or volunteer work to fill the time?
Have you started any change of life? Depression leads to overeating and
feelings of hopelessness and a downward spiral that you need a good jarring out
of - no shame in a little professional help from a councelor or a prescription
and a counselor.
How many SUPPORT GROUP meetings have you gone to IN PERSON? IN A ROW? These
can big help to focus back on the right track and get away from feeling so alone
and out of control. Find someone to MODEL after. When you feel like returning
to bad habits or avoiding the pouch rules, say to yourself "So and So would not
do that and I won't either because I can do exactly the same and be just like
them." Identify with a winner and reach up for help. Call your counselor.
Finally, and perhaps the most important....have you thought about spiritual
issues? Do you know for certain that you have really taken care of your soul's
desire for a relationship with your Creator? What ever church or synagogue you
belong to, we all have an inner sense of wanting to connect with our God. You
would be amazed at how attention to your understanding and relationship to God
can heal your life. I won'tgo on and on except to say that I have been blessed
and highly favored in a close relationship with Christ and credit my WLS
blessings and successes to prayer, healing, and Him.
Good luck. You are not the only post op in this challenging situation and I
have faith that you can get through this with hard work and Help.

Run, don't walk, back to your doctor and your support group. I went thru
this for 2 weeks and then I talked to my surgeon's support staff and they
got my head straightened out. Don't drink when you eat. I just don't fix
any liquids for 1 hr after eating. If I drink, I can eat constantly. I had
to remove this temptation.
Good Luck!
A.Sasser
ruining my surgery, I cant eat anything & everything with NO problem at all
even candy... I just can't believe I come this far only to screw it all up,
I have NO will power at all!!! I eat & eat & eat I never get full I dont
understand this at first I was so deathly sick I couldn't eat & now that is
all I wanna do, my pouch NEVER is full I am headed if not already there
right back to where I started from, I have tried to get a grip on this but I
can't... I just give up I should have known this surgery wasn't the the
answer for me that I would be a failure at it just like all the other diets
<!--more-->
& diet pills I have been on & gained it all plus some back...
being deathly sick again at least then I wasn't eating & I was able to lose
weight ... You all take care & have a great day because mine sure isn't...
