3 years out and vitamin question (advocare)

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Hi all,
I have not written on the boards for awhile but have kept up with most of the
posts. Have a quick question, I am considering using Advocare for my vitamins.
Has anyone ever heard of them? What to know before I get to involved.
Thanks,
Priscilla

Heather and the syrups Qs

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

<<Can you really put it on a pancake? I tried the Atkins one and it was like
water and made me gag.
***I don’t know if *you’ll* like the taste, but DaVinci isn’t bad . . .
definitely thicker than water, but thinner than real maple, or Aunt Jemima’s.
No thickeners in it, like the Auntie’s . . .
<<How about the SF Chocolate sauce? What have you used it on?
***I put it on my *hand*. It was fabulous - the DaVinci choc sauce, that is.
Hershey’s or better . . .
<<Has anyone used any of the syrups to make snow cones? If I were to buy
cherry, would it be sweet enough to enjoy as a snow cone?
***Yes - I use these to flavor sodas, seltzers, and snocones. They are sweet,
and good flavors. I find the SF flavors are more sweet tasting than the sugar
ones.

Thanks for the advice!

YIKES…Iron is low

Sunday, April 23rd, 2006

Hey everyone. I just had my 4 month labs done a few weeks ago and
just got the results of them today. Apparently “normal” numbers for
Iron is 50-150. Mine is at 25. Dr. Oh called in a prescription for
Chromagen Forte…anyone heard of it before? I kind of think it’s
odd that they’d call in a prescription for me and not call me to let
me know.
I’ve also found that I have NO idea what all these abreviations
stand for! I have several things that are high…under CBC/Plt, RDW
is high. ALT (GPT) is high. Triglyceride is high. T-Uptake and T3
are high. Then Iron and %Saturation is low. Can anyone translate
for me? Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Michelle

think is a liquid bandage and lots of little strips of tape and down the
incision. Today I noticed a one inch section of it is pussy……yellowish. I
have
put in a call, am waiting for a call back from Doctor. While I am waiting I
am getting nervous…………should I be? What should I do?

pouch questions

Saturday, April 22nd, 2006

7 months out rny. Loss 110 lbs, happy. I work out 3X wk and have very bad knees.
I use a trainer but probably dont complain enough to her about hurting. Waking
up nights with knees so stiff i cant turn over. Tylenol and over the counter
doesnt seem to help very much. Any suggestions to talk with my pcp about with
the pouch?
Also, what kind of medical tests can they do to take a look at pouch area. I
know its must have stretched - volume of food I am comfortable with is so much
more and having aches and pains I think are adhesions. Any suggestions? I will
f/u with my surgeon but want to go in knowledgeable?

Final Testing Before Surgery

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Hello Everyone,
Yesterday I had my Pre-op testing and saw my surgeon for the second time. He
is such a wonderful man, very honest and I get this awesome feeling when I see
him or talk to him. I know he really cares about his patients and their
success. He has done over 300 WLS. My surgery is July 15th and I am so ready for
it. I know that on the day of surgery I am sure I will experience the last
minute jitters, and be scared like most of you have gone through.
Do you have any suggestions on how to get through this? Is there anything
that you found helpful when they are prepping you for your surgery? I am having
an epidoral, my doctor like these to be done because it helps with the pain
after. Let me know what you all think and what got you through the process to
the
surgery.

Pete Herida

Friday, April 21st, 2006

I figured I would pass this along — as many on here might know him..
Pete Herida had a website www.bigpete803.com to tell his story. According to a
friend of his he died yesterday — was found in his home. It was not due to WLS
but another medical problem (unWLS related). He will be sorely missed.
Pete did a lot of angel work for WLS as well as appearing on Oprah to talk about
surgery and his experience. Visit his website and leave a post if you know him.
Okay?

about the same time, and went to the same support group–and he had a remarkable
story that he told well. May he rest in peace. Steve P.]

Feeling good today, even if it is the Prozac LOL……>

Friday, April 21st, 2006

Hi everybody.
I am sending this to my other lists as well so if you read this more then
once I apologize. Well, I went to the WLS seminar yesterday and feel so much
more better about the procedure. I am not as scared as before. I am only hoping
that now all of the other stuff will work out, insurance, health checks etc. I
asked her about Kaiser and they do not take that any more so luckily my hubby
has the option of getting Rocky Mountain/Sloans Lake and that they do take and
have good luck with. So I will call Tuesday and get my first appointment set
and then wait for the insurance to kick in. Luckily the doctor is setting
appointments in Sept/Oct so that gives hubby time to work at his job and get his
insurance going. I guess their insurance for new people there starts in about 6
months so that’s cool. I’ll ask for an early November late December apt. I will
keep researching and going to the support groups as I wait so hopefully that
will help me. Well, I am sure hoping for the best and will be praying hard for
the light at the end of the tunnel, fortunately, I already see a glimmer of it.
