Not for the faint of heart

Hello Everyone!
I am pretty new to the group. I haven’t posted before, I pretty much read and
soak everything in. The support and information from this group is just amazing.
I am really glad that I have found you. I have been researching surgery for
awhile now and I am going to a doctors informational seminar this week. It is
the first step in the process.
This is the reason for this post. I have IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome). It is
mostly stress related. Will this effect my chances of having the surgery? I
would like to have a lap Rny. I haven’t found anything about it in my research
so I am coming to the most informed folks. I really appreciate any information
that anyone has.
Thanks for your help!
Pat

My “IBS” was cured with my WLS…until I incorporated a small amount of
wheat into my diet. Then back came the cramps, diarrhea, along with
joint pain and headaches. I was tested for celiac disease before
surgery but stupidly put faith in the test results, when I knew I had a
    problem with wheat (or gluten).
As a matter of fact I just came home from a day and a half in the
hospital, being treated for severe diarrhea, stomach cramps, and
dehydration. They didn’t figure out why but I suspect it was because
I had about 1/3 cup of wheat crackers as a stupid snack. Now I know
better, hopefully I will be more vigilant and responsible in the future.
