Feeling Frustrated-Need Help
I have been reading all your supportive posts for months now! My
Open Proximal RNY was May 13th. I weighed 244 pounds-I am
5′5″..I now weigh 208-with 31 inches lost. My frustration comes with
wondering if this amount is too low for having this surgery and if I
am doing something wrong. Is there anyone out there that was around
my starting weight that has had this slower rate of losing? Do I
feel and look better-Yes!! But I don’t want to waste the most
important time in the usefulness of this tool I have been given. I
want to get the most out of it. I am not drinking protein
supplements-I am getting most of it from food-as per my DR’s
instructions.I drink an ocassional SF Carnation Instant Breakfast. I
am able to drink Skim Milk and Low Fat Cheeses- I eat eggs, and
plenty of Fish,Chicken,Turkey.I am only using Fat Free-low fat in my
choices of dressings and condiments.I do not eat bread.I have not
had any sugar. I am walking and gardening and climb stairs at
least25-30 times a day.I feel pretty tired at times. I am taking all
my vitamins and having bloodwork tomorrow to check my numbers. My Dr
says that losing slow is normal for the BMI that I was at. And that
it is best for the loose skin too. And they (dr)seemed happy with my
progress. I still know that I have read so many posts and feel that
there might be a way to get better at this than I am. Please advise
me in what you have done to boost up your weightloss. Waiting for your
response,
Carol

Carol -
I am 5′3-1/2 and my starting weight was 250 lbs. I was noticing that you are
10 weeks out. I can only speak from my experience and looking back at my profile
in Obesityhelp, I had lost 50 lbs. at 10 weeks. It looks as though you are
making right choices. You understand, though, that people are different.
Their bodies are different, etc. It has gotten much slower for me too. I can
attribute that to the fat hanging on for dear life! So of course it will be
harder to shake it off. All I can think of is that you up your water intake.
Also, I take a GNC protien shake for breakfast because that is the meal I don’t
seem to be the hungriest at, so I supplement the shake. It really boosts my
energy which I think has helped me. I don’t think S/F Carnation has that much
protien. I would try a better absorbing whey protien. You really need to
utilize this window of opportunity to lose as much as possible. I know once
this window closes it will be harder to maintain. Do what you
can. We may not have to work as hard as we use to, but we still have to make
the decision. I may be a vitamin deficeincy. Good luck!
Hope this helps. -
