Monday, May 29th, 2006

Anytime i go to chat the room is always empty. Am i doing something
wrong ya think?

It’s been a week …

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

Hello Group,
It is 5:11 am on a tuesday morning, this time last week i was heading to the
hospital for my surgery. Can’t believe it has been a week already. Things are
getting better recovery wise, my headache has seem to have gone away. The
only thing I am having trouble is sleeping. Last night i found it hard to
sleep on my bed (first time since coming home),i tossed and turned all night
and finally went to lie on my love seat and that seemed to work. I am a side
sleeper so having to sleep on my back is something i have to get use to. Do
any of you have any suggestions when it comes to sleeping while u still have
stitches?

Hello all…

Sunday, May 28th, 2006

I used to visit this board quite frequently, but haven’t been here
for a while. I’m 7 months post, and I’ve lost 64lbs. It’s getting
slower and slower, but I’m still struggling along. Actually, if I
never lost another pound, I’d still be happy with having the surgery.
I haven’t puked once, but I came close twice. I haven’t had any
problems at all. I feel great! I take all my vitamins, calcium,
protein, and I eat a normal balanced diet. Some days I eat more than
others, but for the most part, I don’t eat that much. I get plenty of
exercise at my job, being on my feet for 8 hours. Anyway, I just
wanted to check in and say hello! Things are going great, and I’m
looking forward to catching up on posts!
Take care,

Change of surgery date

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

Well everyone…*sigh* I got some disappointing news this afternoon.
My surgeon is ill and my surgery has been postponed. Now instead of
7/29 being my date, my new date is 8/5.
Wanted to keep you posted on what’s going on.

Feeling Frustrated-Need Help

Saturday, May 27th, 2006

I have been reading all your supportive posts for months now! My
Open Proximal RNY was May 13th. I weighed 244 pounds-I am
5′5″..I now weigh 208-with 31 inches lost. My frustration comes with
wondering if this amount is too low for having this surgery and if I
am doing something wrong. Is there anyone out there that was around
my starting weight that has had this slower rate of losing? Do I
feel and look better-Yes!! But I don’t want to waste the most
important time in the usefulness of this tool I have been given. I
want to get the most out of it. I am not drinking protein
supplements-I am getting most of it from food-as per my DR’s
instructions.I drink an ocassional SF Carnation Instant Breakfast. I
am able to drink Skim Milk and Low Fat Cheeses- I eat eggs, and
plenty of Fish,Chicken,Turkey.I am only using Fat Free-low fat in my
choices of dressings and condiments.I do not eat bread.I have not
had any sugar. I am walking and gardening and climb stairs at

Bowel explosion education

Friday, May 26th, 2006

My husband came home from the doctors office very upset/worried. He
finally confessed that his doctor was a little late due to having an
emergency. The doctor had to admit one of his post-op WLS patient to
the hospital due to her bowel exploding. Wow. I do not recall
reading in my research of this complication/problem. Can someone
please provide me with some info on How? Why? And how often is this a
problem for WLS posties?
I want all the info to educate my worried DH and myself.
Thank you.

Fact, in my opinion….

Friday, May 26th, 2006

In POSTING…..sometimes I feel that it’s hard to really post what is REALLY
going on with oneself. Why? Well frankly because there are people out there
just don’t understand what you are going through sometimes, or just don’t
understand and think, well you must be doing something wrong. But if lucky you
will find a person out there, as you who didn’t post it either that is or has
gone through the same thing.
We MUST feel free to post each and every GOOD or HARDSHIP we experience or
what the good is posting? I’m not a whinner but I’ve been through alot and
still an going through alot….even though this month is my 2nd year WLS
anniversary. But I will say…..it has saved my life, changed my life, and I
know it was the right thing for ME.
That said…..on the subject of FRIENDS and FAMILY. With my loss I’ve seen
heard or have had some really strange or unexpected happening, that have
sometimes shocked me. Examples:
FRIENDS……I’ve always been the heaviest of all against all I know. Well

Loss of friendship

Friday, May 26th, 2006

Sharon..This is one of those things in life that truly doesn’t make any
sense. There doesn’t seem to be any logical reason for your friend turning her
back on you. I guess as they say one door opens when another one closes. I
hope that you will get over this loss and move on in your life. I also have
seen my firendships change since WLS but not to the degree yours did.
Best Wishes
Stacey
