“falling off the wagon”

Hey everyone,
I’m in need of advice or something. I am almost 6 months out
now and down about 81-85lbs.(varies) I was on a plateau a couple of
weeks ago so I increased my excercise, water intake and protein, and
also began paying closer attention to my carb intake as well. It got
the scale moving again thankfully and I lost 8lbs in 2 weeks. The
thing is, the other night after our support meeting, for some stange
reason I “fell off the wagon” and I had a binge. I ate about 20 fries
and almost 1/2 of a whopper w/cheese. I also ate it pretty fast but
did not get sick. I felt awful about eating it and tried to make
myself throw it up but could not even make myself sick. Ever since
then (this was Tuesday) I have had these cravings for carbs and feel
like I have lost control. Has anyone else ever experienced anything
like this? I’m so upset about it. I have been doing so well and now I
am afraid this be a cycle. If anyone has suggestions please email me

or post. Thank you
Shelly

    Shelly,
Don’t beat yourself up. Look at what you ate on a binge - before
surgery it would have been alot more. Look at it positively and
    realistically.
I find that if I do eat a few too many carbs I get that craving. I
    try to up the protein.
Get back on track ASAP by eating protein first, drink your water and
    protein shakes. Re-read Pouch Rules.

    HI Shelly,
I have been reading from the Graduate -OSSG list (where you have to be
one year post-op in order to post - anyone can join — I’m only 5 1/2
months so that’s why I’m reading only.) They had a thread recently
about just that and they did what they called a Protein Fast - where
they consumed only protein for 3 -7 days (protein shakes as well as real
food protein) if I remember correctly in oder to get the carbs out of
their systems and thus get rid of the cravings.
Pre-op for me, that was the only way I had of controlling anything. I
had to be Wheat (any flour actually) and Sugar free. It was as if I was
addicted to those things and when they were out of my system - surprise
    - NO CRAVINGS.
I know that I will have to continue with this methodology from now on
even with the WLS - especially after the Honeymoon period of 6 months is
    over.

    Hope that helps a bit.
