Joanie in Phoenix checks in

Hi Everybody,
I don’t post very often - I am lucky to get through 3-4 email lists a day on
WLS but the information is worth more than any doctor can tell you and it
seems all the docs have different ideas! We who go through it all know what
works and doesn’t work IMHO.
Im a slow loser I think and its probably due to not enough water and exercise
but I am finally getting started on the stationary bike… will surely help
the hanging belly!
I only eat 4 oz a meal, all protein. I buy only lean deli meats and low fat
cheeses; sometimes use the light flavored cream cheese and spread on the
lunchmeat; low fat cottage cheese is excellent for breakfast; make omelets with
egg beaters which saves calories! Save the real eggs for over easy or egg
salad!
I too use low cal whole wheat toast for a sandwich or with an egg, etc. I
only eat 3 meals and then have my two protein shakes - one in morning and one

after I get home from work. There are all kinds of sugar free popsicle, fruit
scicles, fudge scicles out there - I look forward to them! I read every
label.
I never did feel full until I started real food and I feel so blah when I
over eat (5 oz in stead of 4)…..I still take 4 flintstone chewables a day;
viactiv calcium chews - doc recommended - have carmel and choc. cures a sweet
tooth - 2 a day. Thats all I need so far per bloodwork. I can now take small
pills and I was told that Walgreens has a small vitamin pill - its red. Usually
they are huge.
I highly recommend using www.fitday.com - can put in everything you put in
your mouth; has a custom food icon to put in label info - has charts and graphs,
etc….its awesome and its FREE. I use it daily - tracks your cals, fat,
protein, carbs, etc. I seldom go over 1000 cals. Check it out!
Good luck everybody - and I hope those who get off track get back on - we all
will falter along the way - nobody is perfect but think about where you have
been and do you want to go back there? Thats what I have to do. Write down
all the positives about what you have done, what you can do NOW you couldnt do
before your surgery - its awesome.
