almost one week post-op

Hi Everyone!
I’ll be a week post-op tomorrow (Wed)–having some issues and wanting about
input from others~I’m getting kinda hungry on the clear liquids, have not
experienced any nausea and am considering contacting my surgeon tomorrow to
see if it’s okay for me to advance my diet (my appointment isn’t ’til 10/2).
I’m finding myself getting kinda grouchy (bitchy is more like it)–in the
evenings when I used to do all my eating. I think my depression is kicking
in (UH OH) since my comfort is gone!~LOL Otherwise I’m feeling well.
I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support I’ve gotten from this
group!!
HUGS TO ALL!
Shari

Hi Shari, thanks for sharing with us; your thought about contacting
your surgeon or dietician is the best one; we can all just tell you
what we went thru. I got soooo tired of the liquids, I still refuse
to eat jello even at 6 months post-op! lol But again, your surgeon
can give you the best advice, I had complications so mine heard from
me quite a lot after I (finally) got home. That’s what they’re there
    for!
As for missing your “comfort,” it sounds sappy of me, but I went thru
some grieving, for lack of a better word, for the “old days,” when I
could chow down a steak with all the fixins, and make 11 pm runs to
get a banana split w/my hubby… you’re changing your entire life
here, it’s going to be hard sometimes. Just remember how many years
it took you to get at your pre-op weight, that’s a whole lot of
habits to break. I don’t really have any advice on how to kick it, I
just ground my teeth in frustration (and occasionally still do) and

tried to distract myself with other things I enjoy doing. If you feel
depressed you may want to talk to a counselor about these feelings
and battles you’re going through, it was recommended for me because
of the trauma I went through with my complications and hospital stay,
and we all need somebody to talk to now & then! Best of luck to you!
