almost one week post-op

Saturday, July 29th, 2006

Hi Everyone!
I’ll be a week post-op tomorrow (Wed)–having some issues and wanting about
input from others~I’m getting kinda hungry on the clear liquids, have not
experienced any nausea and am considering contacting my surgeon tomorrow to
see if it’s okay for me to advance my diet (my appointment isn’t ’til 10/2).
I’m finding myself getting kinda grouchy (bitchy is more like it)–in the
evenings when I used to do all my eating. I think my depression is kicking
in (UH OH) since my comfort is gone!~LOL Otherwise I’m feeling well.
I can’t thank everyone enough for all the support I’ve gotten from this
group!!
HUGS TO ALL!

Diet & Exercise Diary - recommendations requested

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Hi all, I’m looking for an excellent diet and exercise log. I like
www.fitday.com, but would like to be able to have more control over
my data - I want to store it on my own PC rather than on a server
somewhere.
Here’s what is important to me (in order of importance):
1 - Ease of use
2 - Lot of database entries so I minimally put in manual entries
3 - Good and non-complicated user interface
4 - Able to sync the data between my PC and PalmPilot
If necessary, I can live without #4, but I’d rather not.
What do you folks use to log your food and exercise? Why do you use
the application that you do use?
Thanks in advance!

Plateau already?

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Hi all! This is Brenda from Missouri.
I am almost 6 weeks post op. I have lost a total of 36 pounds. I
have reached a plateau. I have been at one weight for at least 2
weeks. Right now I have added 15 extra mins on my stationary bike.
I also do arm exercizes with 5 pound weights. I’m not tolerating any
protein drinks even the ones from vitalady. I take all my vitamins.
I’m trying to get in the amount of water I’m supposed to have. It’s
hard, but I’m trying.
Isn’t this a little to soon to reach a plateau? How can I jump start
weight loss again? Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi -
Sorry to hear you’re having problems.
Have you tried eating JUST 1 protein food? Like a piece of cheese, nothing
else?
‘Cuz I find that eating refined or very concentrated carbs makes me nauseous
(not dumping, tho).
Try 1 food at a time, a very small amount per meal (2-3 Tablespoons, level) and
see if that doesn’t help.
And call your doc.

Surgery England

Friday, July 28th, 2006

Does anyone know what the waiting list on the NHS is for Mr
Kennington at Liverpool’s Aintree Hospital?
Has anyone had the surgery by him or know anyone who has?
I am going to be referred to him for surgery and want to know an
estimate of the time period.
Thanks
Toni

Air travel pre and post WLS

Friday, July 28th, 2006

I flew this weekend for the first time in several years, and the
first time since surgery. Oh man, what a difference! I had lots of
extra in the seatbelt, I could get the tray table down with plenty
of room to spare, I could walk down the aisle without going
sideways, I could use the restroom comfortably, I could easily pick
things up off off the floor, I had no problem removing and putting
on my shoes at the security check, and I didn’t have to pray that
the person in front of me wouldn’t recline their seat. We got short-
notice weekend bargain tickets and on one flight the plane was so
solidly booked that my only choice of seat was a middle seat between
two strangers. That would have been an absolute nightmare for me
pre-surgery–and for them as well. This time it was no problem.
Flying is still not exactly *comfortable*, for anybody, but in a
thinner body it’s easily bearable. I feel like a whole world has
opened up for me to take vacations or visit family and friends
