Post-op Back Muscle Spasms
A question to all Posties,
Have you run into muscle spasms in your backs and or abdomen? I’m 7
months post op and over the last week or so I have started having these
nasty spasms in my back. I should have prefaced this by saying that i
do have a congenital bad back with one of the lower sacral vertebra
which is supposed to be fused is not so over my life time I have
experienced the occasional episode of really bad back pain (throwing it
out or twisting or lifting the wrong way and thus pinching the nerve)
This spasm that I’m having now is nothing like that. This spasm seems
to start on the right and flash over to the left side of my back.
Sometimes if I suck in the abdomen it will start there and go through to
the back - It is very strange
The really odd thing about it all is that when I was at my highest
weight (350) and through the ups and downs of my weight history ( at
least for the last 8 - 10 years) I have had no problems with my back.
I will be contacting my GP and Chiropractor shortly but I thought I
would ask you all if you had had anything similar.

I am not post op but I have experienced something similar I think. Not sure
if it is exactly the same but I get these little electric shocks in my back
every once in awhile. Personally, I think they are from the spinals I received
with my three c/s’s but maybe not? It isn’t really painful. Just a quick shock
and it usually only happens one time and then stops.

Thanks for letting me know about your “shocks”. The only abdominal
surgery I have had is the WLS and there for have never had a spinal.
I’m beginning to think that it might be connected to the fact that the
last weight to leave the boy is all the tummy stuff - the pendulous
boobies and the apron as well as the football sitting right below my
rib cage ( it is getting smaller but it seems to want to hang in there
for as long a possible) - all this, I think has thrown me out of balance
and is placing an extra strain on my back.
I have a call into the chiropractor but won’t be able to see him until
after a 6 day seminar I’m attending so hopefully the trip and back will
be OK until I get back.
