weigth loss resistant
Help me people I am so frustrated. I had my surgery April 2,2003 and have
lost 58 pounds since. I’m OK with that but I lost 45 of that in the first two
and
a half months and since then only 13 pounds. That is when the doctors put me
back on insulin shots twice a day. My doctors have gone over everything with
me and are telling me that my diabetes is making me weight loss resistant. They
describe it as my fat being like a pile of bricks that we are working at
taking away and every time we take one brick off then I have to give myself an
insulin shot we throw two back on. They try and encourage me telling me how well
my exercise is going and that I getting healthy but Dang I’m crazed I am
getting left in everyone dust. I feel I work so hard and I am back to the same
starting line I was at before the surgery. Has anyone been through this? Please
help me hang in I am really feeling sorry for myself right now and food is
looking very comforting.

Diane,
I understand your frustration! Just make sure you keep a close and
strict eye on your diet so as to maybe curb the diabetes with diet?
I’m just guessing. I have plateaued since Easter with the weight I am currently
at. You have to know and
have it within yourself (constant reminding helps) you are eating
healthier, exercising which is making you much more healthy now than
you were. Have you tried to increase your protein and be really
strict on yourself where carbohydrates are concerned? Its just a
suggestion, maybe it will jump start your weight loss again…..Look
at what you are eating and make sure your body hasn’t become
accustomed to that…..it will also make your weight loss slow down!
It happened to me….after I changed my routine some I started having
people ask me constantly if I was still losing weight and I’ve
fluctuated between 5 pounds for hte last 4-5 months……
Just my opinion……hang in there and don’t get frustrated….it
will happen!
