One Year Today

HI Everyone,
I’ve been lurking for a while, have made a few ossg friends and
learned alot. I have read quite a bit of very helpful information. My
fears have been lessened by words and wisdom that comes with time and
experience..So many stages we go through!!! I remember the “HAIR”
stage well it DID come in thicker again.. And the Platues!! Still
have them.. The wierd pain stage, and now I’m in the “will I really
get the rest off” “and get a tummy tuck stage” I want to say Thank
you for your kindness… After all this IS a “Support Group” Once and
a while , as I have been “lurking” I have read some things that
people have said to others, that could have been taken as less
than “tactful” May, I share a little something I have learned??
.. in dealing with people, and human emotions, we can be
very vunerable. When responding to some one who is reaching
out…… Ask your self..IS IT KIND??? IS IT TRUE??? AND IS IT

NECESSESSARY??? IS IT HURTFULL? We all had the surgery because we
were/are overweight.. for many different reasons…. Sharing our own
experiences is much better than “telling” someone else..”how could
you do that”??? Thank you for your time… I now am down 151
pounds ,off blood pressure meds, and controlling my dibetis without
pills, I can walk up my stairs…and starting to date after 12
years!! I am very thankful to be healthy.. this is truely a miricle.
I was 340 when I started. with a bmi of 64.. now I am 189 and still
going…….. I have stayed on low carb, with 30 carbs and under.
and 0 sugar, with a day here and there of endulging in carbs … I
never have made it this far before.. The before and after
pictures of you all were a great inspiration to me!!! Good luck to
all U new comers!! WLS 11/20/02 340..now 189..goal 140.. from a
size 4x to a extra large some med in sweats!!! Annette In Nebr

Wow… a year ago right now I was in recovery from my open RNY…
what a year it’s been. I’ve posted my story before, it started out
not pleasant ( had 2 surgeries within 1 week) but once I got home in
May I started gaining strength back and losing weight, of course. It
was a hard time, having to learn to walk and take care of myself
again, as well as adjusting to the new stomach and taking all the
supplements (plus the extra meds I needed from the 2 surgeries, like
    blood thinner shots… eek).
But one year later I’m fully recovered, my weight has stabilized at
135 pounds, I’m off all meds including insulin and all diabetic
meds. The only things I have to take now are my supplements, and I
    do that pretty religiously.
It’s a whole new life. I’ve read others that say they just stop and
stare at themselves in the mirror, can’t believe it’s the same
person, well that’s me. I’ve always been heavy, always battling the

demons, and still do battle the “head hunger,” and always will.
Here’s to the next year, may it be not near as dramatic as last year!
Happy and blessed to be alive!!
