re :Nail Polish

“However, now that they use the pulse oximeter sensor on everyone’s finger,
that might not be so necessary anymore.”
Actually, Nail polsih does affect you pulse oximetry reading. Darker nail
polish can give you false low readings, and lighter polishes can give false
higher readings. Best bet, take it off. Would you rather look nice, or have
your doctor know your “true” oxygen readings ? Treat yourself to a nice make
over AFTER your surgery when you are feeling better :-). Of course I am a
man, and this is only my opinion. BUT I am an ER nurse, and this does affect
your readings. As with anything, check with your doctor. Your mileage may
vary. Close cover before striking.
