throat infection
The past two days have been quite a terrible ordeal for me. I
started throwing up on Tuesday. At first I thought I had over-
eaten, which hasn’t made me throw up in many months, but that is
what it felt like. Then I noticed that even a sip of tea or water
would make me throw up. So, I thought maybe I had something stuck,
since it had been going on for several hours. Wednesday, my co-
workers nearly pushed me out of the office thinking I probably had
the flu and would probably give it to all of them! I was exhausted
from being awake and throwing up all night anyway, so I slept on and
off the rest of the day. I did call my PCP’s office, though, and
they suggested I take some of my ulcer medication to see if that
calmed my guts down a bit. It didn’t. So this morning, I went to
see the doc and he arranged for me to have an endoscopy to see if I
had a stricture or blockage. The results are in. I do not have a
blockage or stricture, the doctor who performed the scope said I
have swollen, irritated esophagus that looks like it has a fungal
infection. He biopsied some of the tissue and put me on an
antifungal drug. Meanwhile, after the scope, I can swallow clear
liquids but I just had some soup and boy am I ever nauseated!
that’s my saga,
Mary
