hiatal hernia and acid reflux

I’m now 2 years out since August. I began having chest
pain in Oct. which put me in the ER room. They gave me
a breathing treatment and sent me home. My doc figured
I had an ulcer or something and gave me the usual
“here try this”. I insisted on getting an upper GI,
which I had a few days ago. Tomorrow I will have a
sonogram test for gall bladder. Well I found out
today I have a hiatal hernia and what they are calling
“very severe acid reflux”. I don’t understand how this
can be. I never feel acid reflux or heart burn. I’ve
known 2 people who developed esophogus erosion that
developed into cancer and of course this keeps going
thru my mind. I have wondered why my ashtma went away
for an entire year and now came back about 6 months
ago. Apparently the food aspirates into the lungs.

Can anyone else give some input on this problem? Any
one here experience this? The doc just plans to give
me more pills. I also have NO PROBLEM whatsoever
keeping my weight off, in fact I weigh every morning
and thank god it hasn’t fallen below 110 lbs. Is this
another reason I keep my weight off so easily? I’m
not complaining. Some days food is repulsive and some
days I can’t eat enough but I really do need to fight
to keep my weight on.
I’m a little uneasy about this…. it would help to
hear from someone who has experienced this problem if
you could please write and let me know.
Thank you,
Maddy
