Hi,
I am trying to find a new pcp and I live in round lake IL. If
anyone lives near me I would appreciate suggestions to a good doctor.

My daughter is schedule for the surgery in 2 weeks and lately the
news has been drumming 1 in 200 deaths caused by gastric bypass
surgery. this is causing me to be more alarmed and concern. I
understand that there are no guarantees and surgery is a risk. But
the percentage of odds is too high. What contributes to the death of
someone who has undergone this procedure?

i was also worried about the calories that i was taking in. i called my
support group leader and asked her about it. the protein that i drink has
348 calories per drink, so two of those were nearly 700 calories. but she
told me that it really did not matter how many calories i was getting, as
long as i drank my protein and ate healthy. but i think subconsciencly i
really watch what i eat and mentally calculate the calories. of course i am
only eating 1/2 cup of anything which is not enough to worry about.

Hi,
I just went in yesterday to see my surgeon for my 6 wk check-up.
I am actually 9 wks but I have been sick excessively. My surgeon was
a total jerk and thats putting it nicely. I have to say if you dont
care for your surgeon before surgery look for someone else. I didnt
particularily like my surgeon but didn’t want to start the whole
approval process over again. I should have it was a mistake.
Anyhow I had to ask questions this time and it was like how dare
I question the surgery. I asked if I was distal or proximal and was
told I am distal with about 200cm bypassed. which is good or bad? So
then I asked what that meant in terms of malabsorbation and he
snapped at me it didnt matter that wasnt how the surgery worked. I
just wanted to know how much of my vitamins wasnt getting absorbed.
I have been really sick since a week home from the hospital. I have
like upper respitory and broncitis I can’t breathe my sinus’s are

Hi all,
Well i am going in for my operation in 10 days, i am starting to get nervous
again. I went to VA this weekend to visit a friend and possible boyfriend. It
was so good to get away, to collect my thoughts and not really concentrate on
what i am going to be doing next friday. The only question that i have is, Did
any of you travel after you had the surgery, i am going in for lap RNY, but i
want to go back to VA for valentines day to spend it with Chris. I told him
that depending on how i feel i will let him know..
If anyone has feedback would be very helpful.

Hi all,
Barbara, you mentioned an iron suppliment that probably won’t constipate,
but I forgot to write it down. I think that you are right. Between the
constantly being cold, and now being tired by noon, and having no desire
to eat anything, I think my iron must be really low. Can you tell me,
again, what that suppliment was, and where I can get it? Thanks in

Hi John,
The week before my scheduled surgery I developed a urinary tract/bladder
infection. I ignored it for a couple of days, but it got worse. The
Friday before my scheduled Tues surgery I passed a kidney stone. That
morning I’d seen my PCP and she’d given me some antibiotics. I had
called my surgeon’s office and the nurse didn’t think there would be any
problem, but the day of the surgery, when the surgeon found out I’d
passed a kidney stone and was on antibiotics for a bladder infection, he
postponed the surgery a day. I believe from his demeaner, that if he
hadn’t already had a cancellation the next day, he would have gone
ahead, and done the surgery, but to be safe, he postponed.
Everyone seemed much more concerned about the infection and letting the
antibiotics have a chance to work than the actual stone itself.
Obviously, you don’t know exactly what the tech saw in the ultra sound,
so you’ll have to discuss all the details with your doctor, but my guess

I’M GLAD SOMEONE BROUGHT UP THE SUBJECT. I HAVE NO DESIRE TO HAVE
SEX. I AM 10 MONTHS POST-OP. IT DOESN’T INTEREST ME IN THE LEAST. I
HAVE A WONDERFUL PARTNER AND HE SAYS HE CAN WAIT, BUT I KNOW IT IS
HARD FOR HIM. I’VE BEEN TO THE DOCTOR AND HE SAYS I’M FINE. NO
MEDICAL PROBLEMS. HE EVEN SAID MY HORMONE PILL SHOULD HELP INCREASE
MY DESIRE BUT IT HASN’T.. IT’S NICE TO KNOW I’M NOT WEIRD OR ALONE
FEELING THIS WAY.
