Michelle’s increased volume

Hi Michelle -
Jenelle’s post is good . . . AND it is common, at about 6-8 months post-op, to
be able to eat more. One of the tricks, IMO, is not to. One of my doc’s
“rules” is low volume (we’re supposed to eat 1-1.5 oz meals) until we hit goal.
I *can* eat much more, depending on how soft the food is, but I rarely eat more
than 1/4-1/2 cup of even really soft foods.
And, are you transected? If not, then there is a possibility of Staple Line
Disruption. BUt if transected, no worries. Just bread, and increased volume
over time, prolly.
How much dense protein can you eat?

Hey Michelle!
I’m 10 months out and have seen my pattern of losing change the last few months.

I don’t lose anything for 4-5 weeks, then I lose 5 pounds all in one week…
then I bounce around for a few weeks, up and down the 5 pounds, but eventually
they are gone, then after about 4 or 5 weeks from the previous loss, I lose
another 4-5 pounds. I have a girlfriend who had the surgery and she is losing
the same way… don’t get discouraged.
If you do get a little discouraged, go back to high protein, low carb meals and
up the exercise a little. If you are eating 800 - 1000 calories a day, you will
lose eventually.
I kind of like losing a little slower, because my skin keeps up with the loss
better and I can wear my new clothes longer. :-D Good luck to you!

I am 6 months post op and my weightloss has stopped. I have been stuck between
190 and 194 for the past 4 weeks, I also find that I can now eat a whole
sandwich verses just able to eat half of one and that scares me so much. Is this
normal?????

this has been exactly my experience. I have lost 140 lbs in 17 months and I
have heard of many people taking around 24 months to reach goal. I have
definitely tried to use food, especially sugar and carbs thru some stressful
    months
and even regained 10 lbs but lost it again, I need to eat my protein and get in
a more consistent exercise mode. Not to mention the emotional work I have
been doing. It often feels like 2 steps forward then 3 steps back, but in the
long run I end up a few steps ahead. This is work but it is a wonderful new
    life.
