Can’t stop losing!

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

I am 8 months out and I am down to my goal weight and yet I am still
losing weight. I am not able to eat any meat products, milk products
or even soy. My protein intake is therefor very limited as I can
only eat beans, some cheese (rarely) and peanut butter. I can not
eat very much before Im full and I am still getting nausea after
almost every time I eat! I still vomit after any milk or milk
product which leaves out any protein shakes even soy based. Any
suggestions? Im living on vegs and salads but have a hard time with
even salad dressings as they have milk or mayo in them.
Thanks!

More Groups?

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Dear Friends, And you ARE friends already. In lurking around I see
you refer to other sites, or groups. Does anyone have any
recommendations re: Local groups, for instance PA in my case? or
sites that you’d recommend for suppliments or advice on
suppliments? Six weeks out and trying to gather info. Thanks! Lois

I made it :) but now I have a question.

Wednesday, January 31st, 2007

Hi, Everyone. I’m mostly a lurker here, but have chatted with a few
of you. I wanted to let you know that my distal lap RNY on 4/21
went without a problem, and that my recovery is also going very
well. I haven’t taken any pain medication since Saturday morning
and that was only liquid tylenol. I even went shopping for a bit
this morning (Sunday), of course I had to take a nap when I got back
home, but it was good to be out for a bit.
However, I do have a question … is it really possible to get in
the 48oz of liquids a day that my Doctor wants me to? I’ve timed
myself and it took me 1hour 45min to drink 8oz and I felt really
full after that. I have a follow up appointment with the Doc. on
Tuesday, but if anyone can offer suggestions on how to get more
liquids in, I’d appreciate them.
Thanks in advance,
Kelly

Hi This is my first time posting. It seemed to take forever but now
the testing is over. Now I have to wait for the phone call that the
insurance co approved it. I have no doubt that they will….I just
hope they dont take forever. I am so ready to start my new life.
In 46 yrs old…..5′1″ short….314 pounds.
My pcp was susprised at my answer I gave her when she asked me what I
was looking forward to doing once I had the weight off. I told her I
cant wait to take a walk and enjoy it. I used to walk all the time
and sure miss it. She thought I would say shopping like everyone
else. LOL What she doesnt realize is that I work midnight shift at
a Wal~Mart stocking Ladies clothing. I see more than enougth
clothes….lol. I just wanted to say hello and wish everyone

This is it

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Hello all.
I’m a rare poster, and haven’t been around too long. So far I’ve only
occasionally littered the list with research questions, but things have just
changed. With all respect to those of you that went through great
difficulty, strife, and waiting to get approval for and scheduling of your
surgery, I am one of the lucky ones. Pre-op consultation with the surgeon on
2/3, running the gauntlet of pre-op tests and “ologists”, followed by
submission of my information to my insurance company about a month ago. I
was approved in just under 2 weeks. Then, about a week ago, I was called by
the doctor’s office and found out that my world is going to change on May
14th. This is really happening fast, and believe me, I’m thankful it is.
But I do have a question for any of you who feel you can provide insight
into it. I think it’s really heartwarming when I read a posting from someone
who has just been approved, and they’re jumping up and down with excitement,
and cannot WAIT until their surgery date, like a kid before Christmas. But

colonscopy

Tuesday, January 30th, 2007

Hi Everyone, Thank you all for such genuine and caring responses.
My worry next is: what happens if you need to have a colonoscopy
after the surgery? Is it possible? What if you have a CAT scan and
need (like the colonscopy) to consume lots of “whatever” in order to
have the tests? How does a post op person deal with that. Does
anyone know? Or are you just forced to say no thank you, I can’t
and therefore are unable to have the required tests? I guess the
short version is does having the surgery preclude other tests for
health issues and are we able to have things like colonoscopy with
our newly rerouted systems. Anybody know? Lois

Monday, January 29th, 2007

Hello everyone,
I have been meaning to send out an update for the last week
or so because it was appearing I was close to the point
where my paperwork was about to be submitted for approval.
All of my tests have been done, and I sent the last paper I
needed, a letter of clearance from my gastroenterologist,
was faxed yesterday afternoon. So, I’m thinking the nurse
gets it this morning, hands off my file to the insurance
handler, it’s submitted by maybe Wednesday or Thursday and
if I’m lucky, I’ll hear something in another two weeks or
so.
Well … Anita from Dr. Rosenthal’s office called me at
about 10:30 this morning to let me know I HAVE BEEN
APPROVED FOR SURGERY!!!!!! She said she sent it in with a
note asking for a quick decision, and in less than three
