<description>I just wanted to say thank you to all who had encouraging words for me on
this post! It means a heck of a lot to me that you would take the time out
and support me by saying kind words. I felt very proud of myself because
even though i gave in and ate the bad stuff, I learned a more important
lesson....I CAN live without fast food...even if it is a little while. The
memory of how GOOD it tasted is now gone and a new memory of how AWFUL it
tasted is in it's place. I don't drool when i go past a fast food joint
anymore....my stomach turns a bit now. I don't feel the need to have "just
one" fry anymore, because i KNOW it is going to taste awful to me.
I totally understand where Barb is coming from and rest assured I know those
awful food demons WILL be back to haunt me. I am hoping that by
experimenting so early in the post-op life i will be able to keep ahold of
the nasty memory instead of letting that "good" memory of the taste eat at
 me this whole time.
If anything, I have to worry about pizza and wings, and not fast food though
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
lol. fast food was a once-in-a-while treat that we rarely could afford to
do. but pizza and wings is our "special" dinner...that is what we had when
hubby and I first met and has been special to us ever since. Now if someone
could only make a really low fat wing that tastes like a wing, and have
carb-friendly crust that tastes normal AND doesn't cost an arm and a leg, i
 might be less worried lol.
anyway...my thanks again to those who took the time to write!!

<description>already giving in to temptation, your fight is going to be
extraordinarily difficult in 2 years. Your fight against
temptations has not even begun. Please be wary of believing that
McDonald's doesn't have a hold on you; you ate there!
Whoa Barbara. You usually give excellent advice, but I think you
may be going overboard here because of your own experience. It's
surely not a given that Ann will have an "extraordinarily difficult"
time at 2 years. Virtually everybody tests their limits at various
points after surgery, in various ways and with various effects.
Fast food may truly not be a problem for Ann in the future. We all
live in the real world and have to deal with popular culture that
may not be ideal for our eating, but we have to learn to cope with
it. Whether you test your limits and learn to deal with particular
temptations at 3 months, 9 months, or 2 years out is less important
in the long run than HOW you cope with those temptations. It's a
 &lt;!--more--&gt;
learning curve, and in some ways it might be better to internalize
the "I can deal with this" mentality, as Ann has, when your stomach
is smaller than when you have a more normal capacity and the
 temptation is even more attractive.

<description>Ann! Dear you did not do anything bad -- okay you got lucky that the
McFlurry didn't make you dump -- things like that totally make me sick. But
4 bites of a mcchicken? That is not a bad choice. 8 French fries? Everything
we eat does not have to be 100% healthy. We can enjoy some of the stuff we
used to have. Other thing is you have control now. I have eaten McDonald's,
Wendy's, BK... fast food. What i have found is I dont like it much. I will
eat it but prefer other foods. Sounds like you discovered something really
good
