Hello, finally (long)/New diet with work

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I am currently scheduled for an open Rny in June of
this year. I have been in the “Pre Process” since Jan
03. I was avoiding telling anyone for fear of
negativity. I recently started telling people,
starting with the ones closest to me then moved on to
friends, and just recently (Because of scheduling time
off in advance) started letting people know at work I
was amazed at the positive reactions. Many of the
guys I work with are young (Early 20s’) I expected a
lot of them not to understand, but they did. And I
must say have been more supportive of my decision then
I ever thought they could be. In general everyone I
was worried about has been supportive. I guess my
point is, don’t be afraid to tell people. If they
truly care, they will support you even if they don’t

Nona’s carb craving

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Nona -
One thing that helps me is to have a protein drink (pre-digested whey protein
concentrate, like Champion Nutrition’s Pure Whey Stack, or LaBrada’s ProPlete
Gold) when the carb craving get bad. And about every 2 hours after . . . getting
enough protein will help carb cravings immensely.

Drinking with meals and snacks

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Hello everyone, i hope you all had a great Easter. i was hoping to get some feed
back on when if at all is it ok to drink with a meal. I am 15 mo. post op. And
sometimes i find myself sipping with or shortly after a snack or small meal.
for instance, if i am in a rush and only have time to grab a few bites of
chicken i will wait thirty minutes and then get something to drink to get me
through till i can sit and eat a full meal. or i will get a few crackers and
drink a few ounces of carb countdown chocolate milk . so i suppose i was wanting
to see if this is bad for my pouch or is there something else i could do when i
am not able to get food.
thank you for your advice

chairs

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

Spring has sprung and many of us dont have chairs that will hold
us.You can find nice sturdy ones that fold up and fit in a bag at
Walmart and Target. They hold close to 450lb.Even though I can use
regular chairs now I still prefer mine so I take it with me to
parties, family gatherings and festivals.Sharon in Mi.

anyone taken diet pills post wls?

Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007

I’m about a year and half out and am trying to lose 15 pounds. My
appetite is rather large (in my opinion). I bought TrimSpa yesterday
and noticed an ingredient called Glucomannan. Apparently it’s a
natural fiber that expands with water. I don’t want to stretch out
my stomach. Was curious if anyone else had taken diet pills after
wls. Thanks!

Vomiting and Gagging

Monday, January 22nd, 2007

Karyn,
I’m eight months out and occassionally have the very same problem.
It doesn’t always happen right after I eat. I have realized that when
it happens I can sometimes track it back to something I have eaten.
But I have also found that it sometimes happens not because I have
eaten something with sugar, etc but just because some food item or
medication just simply did not agree with my system. It’s part of the
dumping syndrome according to some of the people I have talked with.
I have had it happen several times many hours after eating. I also
gag rather violently but bring up nothing. It doesn’t last long. Then
I feel better.
One of the women at my church who had her RNY four years ago tells
me she still has an occassional bout with it even now. She assures me
that it’s nothing serious but just a minor negative to such a
possitive thing we have chosen to do for a better life without
