amazing

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Your post brought tears to my eyes! How wonderful. I am so grateful for
this surgery! I have lost 119 lbs. in 9 months, and I feel like a miracle has
happened to me! I can fit in a booth at a restaurant, I can feel my bones, I
can walk without getting winded, I can reach my feet, tie my shoes and so much
more! We are blessed to have been given this tool!

What to expect when I come home from the hospital

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

Hi all!
I’m set for 7:30 Monday morning, but I’m not sure what to expect to come home
to. What was everyone eating when they first came home and for how long?
I need to lay up some groceries for when I get home.
Thanks
Lil

normal

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

NORMAL…the most hated word in the dictionary and probably the most useless.
normal in this country has been whatever the advertising world has put out
there. there is no real sense on this subject. i propose that we boycott this
word totally and focus on reality. lets start a new movement to get back to
celebrating individuality in all aspects of society along with respect for how
diverse we all are. this would take the pressure off to be a certain size or
shape.

weight loss and weight gain

Wednesday, February 28th, 2007

it’s great to read all the different post about people losing weight
at different rates and that after a while some regain or stop losing.
i think people (ones who don’t have to lose weight and have this
surgery) think boy after you have wls you are going to lose so much
weight and keep it off for every that you start to feel down and bad
about yourself if you don’t live up to that.
i have been reading all the post and seeing how people lose at
different rates, BUT…..i’m 5 months out and down about 52lbs and my
doc is saying i’m losing slow.
am i losing it slower than i should be?
i see my clothes are hanging off of me, but i don’t really see any
different in my body when i look at myself. my parents are coming to
visit next month and they have not seen me yet since the surgery and
i’m think they are going to be like you don’t look like you lost any
weight (of course they would never say that, but).

Heart Cath.

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

A short note to let y’all know at 9:30am est this morning, I had my heart cath.
I was devistated last Thurs. when my doc said I had 70% blockage in main artery.
Well, it went awesome! NO BLOCKAGES in any artery and the heart is fantastic!
WOO HOO!!! Needles to say, I was doing a BIG TIME happy dance !!!!!! The
doc said the stress test gave out false readings. Well, at least if nothing
else, I know the ole ticker is still doing its job! Thanks for the prayers and
encouragement.
BTW….got a surgery date of June 25 !!!! WOOO HOOO Can’t wait!!
Love you guys!!

Question for “Fit Day” Users

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Hi everyone!
I’m 14 months post op and my weight loss has really slowed down… lost 3 pounds
in April and 2 pounds in May. I THOUGHT I was only eating around 1,000 calories
a day and I started and exercise program a month ago which I have been sticking
to. (Curves)
I decided to start using “Fit Day” again to track what I was REALLY eating and
guess what! I’m eating more like 1,500 to 2,000 calories a day!!!!
Here is my question. I use protein bars that boast “Only 4 net carbs”. With a
note on the package that says “Only these 4 grams shuld be counted toward your
daily cabohydrate intake.” When I enter only 4 carbs in my Fit Day custom foods
it tells me
the calorie count isn’t right based on carbs, protein and fat.
For those of you using Fit Day, how do you enter the extra “no count” carbs?
I’ve been listing them in alchohol… it seems to satify Fit Day. Just
wondering what the rest of you are doing.

Surgery on 6/11

Tuesday, February 27th, 2007

Hello Everyone, My surgery was this past Fridy and I must say that
I was very worried. The hospital was great the team outstanding and
all went very well except…
During the surgery, I woke up, (yes just like stories in the
Enquirer) I felt pain in my tongue from something being passed down
my throat so I started to say that it hurt and guess what, I was
totally paralyzed! Totally awake and unable to move eyelids,
fingers, tongue, feet nothing. Three different things went down my
throat and finally the one behind me said if you want to try
(whatever) now is the time, So then someone else took over and
believe me I thought it was all over. I gave in to death, realizing
that I had no choice, I couldn’t tell them, I realized I wasn’t
breathing any more and then I was gone (out or passed out I don’t
know)
I woke up (very surprised indeed) and told my husband what

Steroids post op

Monday, February 26th, 2007

Anyone have any negative experince with steroids post op ? I recently
started my second round of high dose oral and topical steriods for a tough
rash (The dermatoligst called it atopic dermatits, the generic catchall name
for an unknown rash) .
It cleared well with the first round, but came back with a vengence after I
stopped. I put in a call to my primary to be sure, but I like to go to the
source. So anyone have any good/bad experience with them ??
Thanks
Gary
