I've heard of this happening to folks. But isn't there suppose to be equipment
to show that the person is awake and aware of things? That way they can put them
asleep right. I saw something like this somewhere, on the news maybe. How awful
it must have been for you to go though that. What did your doctor say?

Hello Everyone, My surgery was this past Fridy and I must say that
I was very worried. The hospital was great the team outstanding and
all went very well except...
During the surgery, I woke up, (yes just like stories in the
Enquirer) I felt pain in my tongue from something being passed down
my throat so I started to say that it hurt and guess what, I was
totally paralyzed! Totally awake and unable to move eyelids,
fingers, tongue, feet nothing. Three different things went down my
throat and finally the one behind me said if you want to try
<!--more-->
(whatever) now is the time, So then someone else took over and
believe me I thought it was all over. I gave in to death, realizing
that I had no choice, I couldn't tell them, I realized I wasn't
breathing any more and then I was gone (out or passed out I don't
know)
I woke up (very surprised indeed) and told my husband what
happened to make a long story short, at first they didn't believe me
but when I had cuts in the mouth to prove it and when three people
visited me and two of them had very different stories of what might
have happened (these were in surgery staff) I feel sure that they
were thinkin they were in trouble. One of them actually said that
what he regrets is not telling me this could happen...has anyone
been told you could expect to be awake and paralyzed during
surgery????
Ok, so now I'm home, reasonably well, ouching from the cuts but
not otherwise. I have to have oxygen now, tho I didn't have it
before and I'm grateful as all get out to have this over. I'm
looking forward to my new life, but wondering if it will always be
with oxygen and if I should proceed further with the "issues" of
this surgery.
Is the pounding in my chest normal? Should I be very tired?
Otherwise I'm doing well thanks for all the help.. Lois
