? Surgery Center In Florida

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I read and email regarding a surgery performed in Davenport, Florida.
Where is that? I have sent emails to several of the representatives
listed on the clos.net site and have yet to get a personal response.
I have been researching this for two weeks in the hope of taking this
information to my PCP visit on 8/24. Help!!!! I did find an
organization called the WISH center here in Tampa. I was very
impressed with all the information from Dr. Rutledge’s group except
that I prefer local treatment. Is this possible with Clos, or should
I pursue another alternative.

What should I take to the hospital?

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

This is my first time posting. I am having surgery on September 2nd, 2004. I
am wondering what I need to take to the hospital. I don’t want to pack too
much, yet I am afraid I will forget something important. If you have any
advice, I would sure appreciate your input. Thank you for all your support, as
I have been “lurking” for about six months. I have learned so much from those
of you who have posted.

weight gain during pregnancy, Mom & Baby

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

The post about being at goal weight and pregnancy made me think of a
question too. (I am very interested in the answer to the other question).
What I am curious about is post-ops getting pregnant and how their
weight does during and after pregnancy. Also how about the baby’s weight?
Would anyone with experience or info please share?
Thank You

Revision from VBG to RNY

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

Hi folks! I’m scheduled to undergo revision of a VBG to RNY on Aug.
25. I would like to hear from some people who have already been
through this, especially the positive!

I was just approved by BCBS online in about 3 minutes

Saturday, March 31st, 2007

I can not believe it. I had my appt. on 8/6/04. I had not heard
from the coord. in reference to my appt. dates or anything even after
calling a couple of times. so I called the ins. co. to see if they
had rec’d anything and they had not. So I called back to dr. and
spoke with the coord. she said she was working on mine now. She
said she had just gotten an email with the procedure for getting
approval online. She asked me some questions, filled in the website
form and it said I was approved and that I would get a letter.
Now all I have to do is have my appt’s then I can schedule my
surgery! WOW! I am bumfudled!

me. She is looking into it.

lunchables and other stuff

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

i was reading about the experience of a member who said she was fine packing her
own lunch meat and crackers but dumped badly on a lunchables. everytime i read
something like this i jump on my soapbox. yes there is a difference. convenience
food comes with additional chemical additives of all kinds. they are a form of
convenient poison. the real scary thing about them are that they are designed to
feed children. those chemicals mess with your bodys chemistry and hormones. that
is also why many so called diet and fat free foods do not help people to lose
weight or be healthy. small amounts of fresh, high quality foods with an
adeequate amount of exercise is still the best way to go. the only times i have
badly dumped, twice in 2.5 yrs, has been when i ate a “diet” food and from an
artificially sweetened protein shake. i have less badly dumped a couple of times
from processed carbs and low or fat free dairy products.whereas raw sugar, whole
grains and regular cheeses and full fat diary items bother me not at all.
read those labels, fat free and “diet” items have as many or close to as many
calories and more carbs than the real deal. try eating a little less of real

Melinda’s protein Q

Thursday, March 29th, 2007

Melinda -
I use whey protein shakes from VitaLady.com. Whey is a by-product of
cheesemaking, so is an animal product, but doesn’t kill ‘em. I do 6-8/day. My
doc makes us sign a contract that we will do aminimum of 4/day, and I like the
way I feel better on 6 than 4. I’ve lost 165 lbs in 17 months, from 320 to 155,
from size 28 to 8.
Whey is more easily absorbed than soy protein, and tastes better. We don’t know
how much protein we actually get from food, as some of it is not absorbed due to
nature of bypass surgery.
Good luck!
