tummy troubles…again

Friday, April 27th, 2007

I guess its back to MOM for me. I Just can’t take Mirilax, and since my
insurance won’t pay for Zelnorm, I’m going to have to go back to MOM. Mirilax
gives me such pain in my side with cramping and bloating. The same thing
happened the last time I tried this. I even took a double dose to get things
moving. But it was so hard to go it hurt. I did find some magnesium citrate
tablets and ordered them, but it’ll be two weeks before they come in and I don’t
want to feel like this so MOM it is, I guess.

Nona’s fiber intake

SF Fiber Choice wafers
LiquiFIber from VitaLady.com
avacado
Wheat Bran, Oat Bran are carbs, but indigestible ones . . . basically, no net
carbs. Basically, no calories. Just sawdust.
Flax seed - grind it fresh, mix with hot water, and eat as cereal . . . add SF
syrup to flavor, or cinnamon, Splenda, butter. Low carbs, good fat, a little
protein, lotsa fiber. But I’m sure she told ya not to eat seeds - GRIND them!
Good luck. Hope it all comes out OK.

first goal reached

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

well i went to my curves last week to get my weight checked and found
out that i finally reached my first goal. to be back at the weight i
was before i had my son (who is now 7 years old). i wanted to be at
250 for the goal but…. my weight was 248 so i was under :).
it is taking a little longer than i hoped, i’m 9 months post-op, and
down 72 pounds, but all my clothes are falling off and i feel great.
i’m hoping to reach my next goal by my one year anniv in jan. 2005
and that would be to be down 100lbs, but if i don’t make it that is
ok.
my doc. wants me to lose it slowly so my body can keep up with the
lost.
thanks for all the support i will keep you posted on my goals

Happy Saturday All

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

Well, folks, I am on my way to Huntsville with my husband who is on
convention, I am still having pain, but the emergency dr could not
find anything wrong with me, the xrays and blood work, we both
normal. so i am going, and can rest in our room, if need be, please
say a prayer for me.
I am 19 days post op, and have not lost any weight at all this past
week. If i am still with pain when we get home, will call the
surgeon to have him check me out, but i am pretty sure there is
nothing wrong,
Have a great weekend, enjoy your meeting today, hopefully, i can get
to the next one.
Hugs to you all

new to the group too

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

hi everyone!
i’m new to this group. i started researching wls about 2 years ago,
gave up - got a bit scared, started again and now i have a surgery
date of 11/2 for a Lap RNY. i’ve been reading the posts and checking
out the pictures for a couple of weeks now. this seems like a
wonderful place to share good stuff and not so good stuff. my general
impression is that there are few (if any) of you who wish they had NOT
had their surgery. but i gotta tell ya, i’m nervous about making this
drastic change to my body that is not easily (if at all) reversed,
sometimes (more than sometimes ??) has nasty complications and has
many risks. however, i, like most of you, have been
overweight/fat/pleasingly plump/chubby/obese/etc/etc/etc my whole
life. i too have missed out on too many things..i’m 56 years old…i
want to ride a motorcycle!! :)…at least i want to try it!! and lots
of other things too! i too am tired of the looks of disgust and cruel

four months postop update

Thursday, April 26th, 2007

OK, drum roll please…………………….
78 pounds are gone in four months, since my gastric bypass surgery!
And 112 pounds are gone, since my highest weight last November!
Both my surgeon and I are pleased with this progress.
And, for the first time in recorded history (OK, first time in 20
years),
I weigh less than 250 pounds, at 248!
I have gone from a BMI of 58 to a BMI of 40,
which translates into a great improvement in my health.
Now, I just have to stick with the program for another 20-30 years!
LOL!
Thanks for your prayers and support!

Obesity Surgery Cures Many Ills
Obesity surgery helps patients do more than shed weight it often
cures their diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol,
researchers say.
The research, an analysis of 136 studies, found that such operations
are more than cosmetic. They appear to alter the patient’s body
chemistry itself and eliminate or relieve conditions that can lead
to heart attacks, strokes and kidney failure.
The analysis was funded by a Johnson & Johnson Co. subsidiary that
develops and markets surgical instruments, including staplers for
obesity surgery. But the results echo what many doctors have
reported seeing.
Diabetes was eliminated in nearly 77 percent of the affected
patients; high blood pressure was eliminated in nearly 62 percent;
cholesterol improved in at least 70 percent; and obstructive sleep
