I recommend that you drink as much protein, in the form of low-no sugar shakes
as you can swallow, and shove as much vitamin C as you can tolerate in there
also. This protein and C loading will help you heal faster.
If you get diarrhea, back off the C a little until it disappears, then gradually
increase.
Get protein shakes from VitaLady.com, best kinds for us (pre-digested, whey
protein). Make them with water, ice only. No fruit, no milk, yoghurt, etc.
Extra calories, and lots of sugars. You know that you make be lactose
intolerant post-op? Many of us are . . . I can eat cheese, some lo carb
yoghurt, a little cream, but *NO MILK!* ANd some processed cheese (mcDonald’s),
some brands of creamed cottage cheese, etc. get me.
So have a last fling with milk, ice cream, etc . . . eat some of those things
that you may not wanna live without. :o) But you will . . . stay healthy (the
protein and C will help), and don’t gain any weight in the next few weeks.
Don’t stock up any food . . . buy a few can of broth, a couple boxes of SF

Jello. But only a couple . . . I still have SF Jello left over from my surgery
2 years ago. And I was on liquids for a month! (usually, V8, and jello are
considered clear liquids, even tho they’re not!) Once you’re on full liquids,
get right back on the protein shakes.
Good luck . . .

Subject: I’ve got a date!!
I’m scheduled for a Lap RNY (proximal) and gallbladder removal on
1/25/05. I’m excited and a little nervous, but mostly excited.
Any tips about things I should do between now and surgery?
What “foods” should I stock up on for my post-op diet (liquid for 2
weeks, then soft foods for the next 2-4 weeks - depends on how I’m
healing?
Thank you for all the information & support I’ve received from this
group! You’ve been wonderful and I could not have done it without
you guys!
