Ever Had Extremely Dry Skin?

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

I had RNY two years ago, have lost 145 lbs. This last six months, my
skin has been extremely dry. It’s not the weather here. My contacs
were bothering me so bad that I went to Eye Dr. She said my eyes
were very dry as well. I have started taking Flax Seed Oil capsules,
and have always drank lots of water. I am taking meds, but they do
not contribute to dryness (Mom’s a Pharmacist). Anyone ever have
this happen?

Had RNY in May 2003 lost 140……HELP gained 20 back!!!!!!!!!!!!

Tuesday, May 29th, 2007

Help me please,
2003 had the RNY, lost 140 but gaining back. I have been
happier than I have been in many years, why am I letting this
happen? Am I eatting right? NO Am I exercising? NO. I eat sweets
by the handfulls, and don’t get sick like I used to right after
surgery. I’m not asking anyone to feel sorry for me, I’m at fault.
But I have no will power and need some encouragement. I never went
below 200lbs, I can live with that, but to gain after all I went
though??? Need to come to my senses.
I would like to hear from anyone who can help or relate.
Help me please,
GINA

Subject: Getting back on track
I am writing to see if someone will tell me how to get back on track- I
have quit losing. I am 4 years out and still weigh 198- 206—–my weight at
my surgery date was 376, but for the last year I have been at a stand
still–
*Congratul;atiopns on what you’ve accomplished. :o)

iron and calcium absorption . . . bad idea. Even decaf . . . it’s not just
caffeine, it’s tannins.
Tea is *not* water . . . water is water. Please cut back to one or two tea
“fixes” / day, and drink your water.

Hi guys…Newbie here

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Hi all,
I’m a newbie to the board and just wanted to introduce myself. I hope
to have the surgey (RNY) very soon. I have my final test to complete
on Friday. That being the dreaded “Psych eval”. After that, I will
submit all the paperwork to my surgeon and hope for a speedy consult
and surgery date! Great to be here.
Hugs,
Sally

how to relieve a kink or twist

Monday, May 28th, 2007

susan, it sounds like u have a kink or twist- I do and it happens very
seldom, but about kills me when it does-it will not show up on a test unless
it is twisted or kinked at the time— I went to a gastro- specialist, who
finally told me what it was, and he also told me to relieve it, to get down
on the floor on all fours, and arch your back upward like a cat stretch
hold that position while breathing easily—-it works for me to some
degree—
he said I might have to have surgery if it keeps coming back, but mine is
been good for several months now——I had a problem for about 6 months and
once it happened my stomach was so so and bruised feeling to the touch, and
I think there was some swelling or something, so it kept coming back—–
does yours worsen if you lie down and stretch out on your back?
I may be wrong but it sounds like what I have had—
I hope for you that it disappears, cause I know the pain is intense, and
the dr. told me it may never come back, or it can —

Mag Citrate

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Pam,
I had a colonoscopy this past November. I was thirteen months post op at the
time (lap rny, proximal) and the doc had me take Mag Citrate for the test
prep. My doctor for the colonoscopy is a partner with the surgeon who did my
wls, and they conferred before they ordered it. I had no problem at all. To be
honest, it was much slower acting than I thought it would be, and not as
violently thorough as I had heard it would be, but it did the job. I had to
have a
follow up colonoscopy after my first pre-op test because they found a
pre-cancerous polyp and wanted to check that it was all gone (they removed it
during
the first test). All was well. :) So, that’s my experience with the Mag
Citrate, hope it helps you with your concerns.

types of WLS

Monday, May 28th, 2007

Hi,I am new to this board and have several questions. I have been
looking at WLS for about a year, I am almost 100 pounds
overweight, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. Have
been looking at lap band but my insurance will not cover it. I think
they will cover Roux-en-y. Would like to hear from anyone that has
had that type of surgery, both lap and open. Any information would be
appreciated. Thanks

Nashville TN: WLS groups and / or WLS friendly PCP?

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

I’m 2 yrs post op RNY. Moving from Atlanta to Nashville
(specifically Mnt Juliet) TN. Anyone know if there’s a support group
in this area? How about a PCP who won’t freak out when I tell him /
her I’m a bypass patient?
Any suggestions are appreciated.
Have a great new year!
Susan
