Mag Citrate Question

Sunday, May 27th, 2007

Greetings all - and Happy New Year.
I have a question…
I’m having a screening sigmoidoscopy on Tuesday, and the prep
includes drinking Mag Citrate the afternoon before. I was wondering
if there is any contraindication to using Mag Citrate after an RNY?
Has anyone taken it? It being the holiday weekend, all the doctor’s
offices that I might call are closed - so I thought maybe among all
of you, there’s someone who would know.
Thanks,
Pam

Can anyone tell me anything about the Barix Clinics in Columbus Oh.

Differences in docs . . .

Sorry, but I forgot to add that I attend my program’s support meetings twice a
month. That’s the best and most important way to stay updated.
Thanks.

How fast it comes off-Stacie

I’m at 193 right now and I’m at the point that I feel like
starving my self…
Starving yourself now would be a pretty dumb idea. Setting your body back
into starvation mode and making it even harder to lose. If you’re not happy with
your loss up your water, exercise and cut down on your food intake. Protein
first meals if you’ve strayed from that
and watch your portions. We can lose anytime we want after this surgery -
it’s just up to us
to be compliant and follow the rules to get the results we want.
has anyone have there hip bones
pop when there laying down.. mine do it so much it hurts sometimes I had my
calcuim check and its fine…
I don’t know what the hip bone problem could be - your doctor (PCP) would be
a good place to start for that. Maybe you need to build up the muscles in your
legs/hip area so they can better support the joint. Are you exercising enough

Date set–miraculously!

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

Hello all, this is the first time that I have written but I have been
reading everything that you all have been writing since October. I finally
was approved for Lap RNY on 12-23-04, after being told a week and a half
before my first surgery date that they (the insurance company) was looking
at the wrong policy and it would not be a covered benefit. I started
writing letters to our insurance company and my husbands employer. I
finally got the good news that they were going to cover the surgery. I am
now scheduled to have surgery on 1-12-04. I will be the first person to
have this surgery with our insurance. I just want people to know that
miracles to happen and not to give up. Keep writing those letters and don’t
give up.
Thank you all for all the wonderful support that you give everyone and each
other it is very helpful and informative.

Dr Ricardo kelly In mexico

I am wondering if anyone has had surgery in Mexico for the lapband
with Dr. Kelly.

gaining weight and looking for a diet that will work

Saturday, May 26th, 2007

I’m 2.5 years post op with an RnY and — after an ill-fated
Welbutrin experience — ended up gaining about 30 pounds. I WANT TO
LOOSE IT and I’m willing to do whatever it takes.
Do any of you know of a good diet/reference that I can use? With an
RnY, can you just do the “eat less” thing and actually loose
weight? Do you need to do a low-carb diet? What are the best
options for someone with this “different” intestinal wiring?
Thanks for any/all help you can provide!
Yours,
Terry

how fast it comes off

we know as a group that we all lose at different rates and that different
surgeries seem to have different effects as well. the more overweight you are
the faster you lose., the more invasive the surgery and longer it takes to heal
the quicker the loss at the beginning.
i am starting to have a sneaking suspicion that the open rny i had may have been
more effective than some of the lap surgeries. my theory is based on the fact
that i have a ring and some of the folks i know who have had Lap do not have the
ring and seem to be losing slower and lesser amounts. three years out that ring
apparently is my best tool because if i eat even one bite too many the food
backs up at the ring and stops me cold.i’ve had the normal (my surgeon assured
me) weight gain of 15 lbs 3 yrs out, hormone replacement therapy and a full
hysterectomy may have had a part too, but have stabilized here and am still very
happy with my weight.
i’d like some discussion about my theory from out there. what do you all think?
does the ring make a difference in weight loss and regain or not.i guess that

I finally got my date

I started the process about 3 yrs ago but I wasn’t really ready. This
past September I got a new PCP and thing started rolling. My
insurance won’t cover in 2005 so My big day is Wednesday the 29. I am
excited and nervous.

Tomorrow is my big day….

Friday, May 25th, 2007

Hi everyone,
Tomorrow is my big day. Having the lap-RNY. Keeping it a secret from everyone.
So far everything is falling into place. The kids don’t suspect a thing. I
really thought that my youngest who is 13yrs old would ask all kinds of
questions but so far he seems content with the fact that I will be gone for
three days. Told him that I have to go to a workshop for work. I have been kinda
dropping clues all year long with the dieting and exercising and have been
losing weight slowly. Not eating much and about the first of Nov. mentioned to
the kids about being gone between Christmas and new years. So I think I have all
my bases covered. There is one thing that I didn’t think about. Today when I was
at the hospital getting the final testing done I ran into several people that I
know. Never thought about running into people that I know at the hospital. But
if that is the only thing that I forgot to cover I think I doing good.
I just want to thank you all for your support in group. You provide a great deal
of knowledge to all who are researching this procedure. Please keep posting
