having a hard time eating

Get to your doctor. You have to eat. Living on your vitamins isn’t good for
you. You need your 3 meals a day, and/or whatever your doctor prescribed for
your post op diet. You probably have depression and need meds for it. Those that
have what you have usually get on depression meds whether short term or
longer, depending on the severity of it and at the discretion of the
doctor/therapist. Then see someone about your food issues. Cross addiction with
obese people
post op isn’t abnormal. Some turn to shopping, some turn to
anorexia, some turn to gambling - whatever it isn’t normal. They no longer
have their security blanket = food. These issues have to be dealt with. Call you
surgeon and let him/her
know what’s going on with you. Then find a competent therapist who deals with
post op wls patients and food issues. Food issues are very common in many
post ops but you’ll need help to get over them. Feeling “sick” even before you
eat is a fear you’ll have to work through with someone. It may be tied in to the

depression, which is acerbated by the fast release of hormones, this early
out. Get in tough with your surgeon and let us know how you’re doing.

    Shannon,
It will get better. Your body has to get used to eating again. Are you just
recently coming off a liquid diet? Did your surgeon give you some eating
guidelines? They are all very different. You didn’t say what kind of foods are
    giving you trouble.
I only had problems with fish. I have a good friend who is having this
problem, he had a lot of trouble with dairy at first. You need to be getting
    lots of
protein in, eggs, low fat milks, low fat cheeses (if you can handle the
dairy), when you are ready, try fish, try chicken and turkey. For the first few
weeks I existed on eggs and yogurt. Yogurt went down very easy. You have to take
each day slowly. Eat slowly, chew well. When you feel ready, try something
new. If you are having a hard time, at least try to get some protein drinks in.
They will really make you feel better.
As for depression, it is quite normal. You are not eating away your feelings

any longer. Make sure you get outside and take walks, drink lots of water, and
talk to people either online or just some friends. If you don’t know of them,
www.obesityhelp.com or www.wlsfriends.com are both two good message boards
    for support. Try them.
I wish you all the best.
