<description>The reason for the no-carb diet is to reduce the size and increase the
flexibility of the liver before surgery.
With most patients livers being extremely fatty and hard this greatly
facilitates the Dr.'s ability to maneuver inside the patient.

Mine as well. The only thing they told me is they did not want to see me
gain before surgery so to try to limit the "last supper" thing to one day
 rather
than every favorite restaurant. And truth be told, you will eat just about
all of that again eventually so really, it is a waste of money and calories.
Going on a low carb diet before surgery isn't a bad idea though. It will help
get the withdrawal out of the way before surgery and you will lose some
weight before surgery which will only make it that much sooner before you get
 to
 goal.

<description>I had to go on a liquid diet for 5 days pre-op. Lots of protein shakes, but no
solid food. I had LAP RnY and my surgeon said that a liquid diet shrinks the
organs and makes LAP easier and healing faster.

Hi
I have a date of June 10th for lap. I am concerned about what to eat the
two weeks before, when I can have no carbs. I have always done weight watchers
and never counted carbs. What is permitted during that time period? More
importantly, what is not permitted, other than the obvious carbs.
