I have a question, what to do all day?
This probably seems like a dumb question, but, I am wondering; When
you come home from the hospital, what do you do all day. I am
accustomed to a lot of seldentery time, in other words, I read a lot.
I have not been able to be very active for the last three years due to
my weight. I know you have to get your fluids in, but what do you do
with yourself all day. Please give me some suggestions.

Hi Becky,
You’re going to be pretty tired in the beginning.
Trips to the mailbox will seem like quite a feat. I
tried to get up and moving as often as possible just
to get myself used to being active. One thing you’ll
notice (I think you’re having lap done though aren’t
you?) is that in the beginning the floor seems MUCH
farther away- and everything you touch seems to land
there. I was constantly calling on my daughters to
please pick something up for me. Increase your
walking daily. Don’t be surprised if you find yourself
preoccupied with thoughts of food. I watched the Food
Network like never before. It wasn’t so much that I
wanted to eat the stuff, but I had a sudden yearning
to cook for others. If you like to read, well you’ll
certainly still be able to do that.
best wishes,

That is a wonderful question!!! You really are thinking ahead.
Ok. Reading is good. It’s still nice out, so go for little walks. Catch up on
letter writing, emails, phone calls. Do you crochet or knit? Maybe you could
start? Tv is nice, but you need an activity. Paint by numbers is fun. Or
embroidery is an inexpensive hobby. Sewing is fun. Just some of the things I
did. I walked mostly. I love walking for exercise. But that’s just me.

Yeah! I am 6 days post op! (Lap RNY)
I have books, stationary, crochetting all around my recliner…the
only problem is that it’s been so long since I last crocheted that my
arm got alittle sore (yeah topic sports creams)
I have been very lucky…no being sick, no problems with anything
except boullion…my new tummy hates the low sodium stuff.
If you get the chance to spend only one night in the hospital..it is
worth it…I felt so much better at home than at that noisy place.
take care,
V
