I have only told a few people that I am going to do it too - the ones I did
tell were supportive but very apprehensive - as I move nearer my surgery
date I will not be telling anyone else - I don’t want the negativity……I have
enough to deal with…

I told everyone I am having surgery Dec 12th. I had 2 people at work
as me if I was sure I wanted to do it. They told me that I needed to
reseach other options. I told them I researched this option for almost
a year and if I didnt have it done I might not be around another 20
years. They dont bother me about it. It’s my choice I am doing it for
me. I want to get my health and my life back for me.

Who you tell is such an individual thing. I’m a
blabbermouth (about myself anyways) and I couldn’t
keep it a secret. I know a lot of people don’t want
to tell anybody afterwards either, but I tell lots of
people. I know I’ve changed some people’s minds about
WLS. Besides, you find support in some of the most
unusual places. In general, my heavier friends were
more leary and less supportive than my thin friends.
Go figure. Some of them (the heavier ones) have since
checked into it or had it done themselves.
