Surgery scheduled for Nov 8th

Saturday, August 11th, 2007

I’ve been a silent member since I was accepted into our bariatric
program.
Just wanted to let you know how important your posts have been. You
have provided me with insights and knowledge that have made my
clinic visits easier, bariatric classes more entertaining, and home
preparation less stressful.
Through you, I have been able to plan.
When you mentioned how upsetting it was to have a family member help
in the bathroom, it pointed me to find a ‘toilet aid’ that allows
people to wipe themselves.
When you mentioned the problems with using the recliner when
released home, the local hardware store helped me make handle
extentions for the recliner lever.
When you mentioned the mistakes you made and others helped you find
the better answers, you saved me from making the same mistakes.

Queensmetrowls for EC Awareness
“Because We Can”
On Sunday October 16, 2005, 28 of us participated in the “Making
Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk” in Jones Beach. Our team was
the only Bariatric Team to participate in this event. This was our
second year to participate in this walk. I am very proud of all my
teammates to get up early on Sunday morning and walked with me.
Our team name is Queensmetrowls for EC Awareness. EC awareness is
Esophageal Cancer Awareness. Esophageal Cancer has become the
fastest growing form of cancer in the United States. Approximately
14250 cases of Esophageal Cancer will be reported this year and
13250 people will die from this disease. There are no drugs
dedicated to Esophageal Cancer; there are no events dedicated to
Esophageal Cancer. There groups like The Esophageal Cancer Education
Foundation developing programs for Esophageal Cancer Awareness. A

Getting to know you

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Okay I want to know about everyone on here. So here is about me:
I am a law school graduate who took the July 2005 bar in the state of Ohio. Dont
know if I passed.
I have been married twice. Now engaged and my fiance and I are planning a
wedding for 2007. I have a five year old daughter and he has a four year old.
I had surgery in 1998 (October 7, 1998 to be exact) at BTC in Ohio with Dr.
Flancbaum — who is now at St. Luke’s in NYC if I am not mistaken.
I weighed 348 pounds and now am about 174 pounds depending on the time of month.
My weight is pretty much stable.I gained two lives from surgery — my daughter
and mine.
Come on — someone else post the following:
Name
Surgery date
Pre op weight
Current weight

Post-WLS Cosmetic Surgery in FL/International

Thursday, August 9th, 2007

Having had my surgery approximately 15 months ago and having lost 260lbs
so far I find myself getting to the point where I feel I REALLY need
cosmetic surgery.
When I first had WLS my surgeon told me that he could do a tummy tuck as
part of a hernia repair operation since many WLS patients(myself being
one) do develop hernia’s post-surgery. However, he is no longer
practicing so I guess I am S.O.L.
I am looking for any information you all have regarding post-WLS surgery
in either Florida or International. Specifically I am looking for
ballpark prices and surgeon references.
I have heard good things about the Rosenstock clinic in Costa Rica and
know someone who actually had surgery there. However, she didn’t have
any of the same surgeries I am looking into. I myself am looking for
lower-body lift, tummy tuck, and male breast reduction.
Any information would be appreciated.

Wondering who is still here

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

I am just wondering who is still on here from when I last was around. I sent an
intro earlier and haven’t seen it appeared nor have I seen any posts. Is this
list still active?

Protien vs. protien drinks

Sunday, July 22nd, 2007

I have never had a protien drink, and have gotten all my protien from my
meals. I am 8 months out and have lost 157 lbs with starting weight of
469lbs. I do have trouble with low iron (was severely eniemic before
surgery) and potassium, but otherwise my blood work has been good. I feel
great and don’t regret sticking to Dr.’s orders; my Dr. never pushed them
and recommended I try to eat real protien. I feel awesome and look
forward to more weight coming off. I’m not saying do shakes, or don’t do
shakes. . . I’m just saying this is how this path worked for me. Good
Luck in whatever you decide.

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

through what I ‘am going thru, I haven’t found no one yet so far
I had open r n y may 25th 2005 2 months ago I ‘weighted 449lbs and
yet so far I have lost 60lbs well before two week after surgery my
incision broke open and it needed repaired so I had to back under
and had it put back together but I stopped breathing so was put on a
vent for about 12 hours of so til the antesia[sp] wore off. Well I
stayed nausea and sick so doc ordered some xrays where you had to
drink that nasty white stuff well The results were it was flowing
thru my small intestine as it should but it was also draining into
my larger stomach that the staple line has broke down Well I was
freaking out 1 is that going back under again which would be risky
because of my breathing problems SO I got to speak with my doc a few
days later and he suggested that as long as I ‘am progressing
loosing weight that he would like to wait til next and do a revision

Eastern Mass Surgeons

Saturday, July 21st, 2007

Hi all,
I had a lap RNY last October in Green Bay and have lost 180 pounds - I
feel great but still have a ways to go.
Anyway, my mother, in eastern Massachusetts, is now interested in
bariatric surgery. Can anyone out there recommend a
surgeon/clinic/program for her. She has investigated a few but they
have not impressed her yet.
Thanks for the help!

off topic: How far do you need to walk to burn off the calories in o

Wednesday, July 18th, 2007

(Be SURE to read, and RE-READ the last lines! LOL! Haze)
How far do you need to walk to burn off the calories in one M&M
candy? That’s the little marble sized M&M’s, not a candy bar?
The question was on a health program and I didn’t know the answer.
So how far?
A. 50 feet
B. The length of a football field
C. One-half mile
D. One mile
Scroll down for the answer
