Gazelle.

Saturday, August 25th, 2007

I have been wanting to buy one too. Went to my sister’s house for
Christmas. There it was.It was the one I had seen in last
weeks “Dicks” add. I think it was called The Extreme. It sells
for$349.99 and was on sale for $299. It has three settings of
resistance and it has a weight limit of 300#s. It looks very sturdy. My
sister says you can get a good workout on it. She likes it. It looks
like alot more fun than a boring treadmill. Hope this helps.

milk or no milk ?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I,m not lactose intolerant. My doctor says to fortify shakes with milk.
I keep reading “no milk due to the lactase.” I don’t want to slow down
my weight loss. I’m drinking four Matrix shakes/day. I’m eating almost
nothing because nothing tastes good or feels good in my pouch. What do
you all think about the milk?

Article on Vitamin B1 Deficiency

Friday, August 24th, 2007

I read the following article regarding the case study of a woman who
developed a vitamin B1 deficiency following WLS. I found the
article and several of her comments, specifically, the comment about
WLS being a “quick-fix” for obesity offensive. Also, the article
does not mention if the woman in the study was taking any of the
required supplements. I sent the writer an e-mail explaining the
decision to have WLS from an obese person’s point of view. I
encourage others to do the same. Obese people will continue to be
the outcasts of our society if we don’t start fighting back. I
never spoke up before my WLS, but now I feel the need to and I am
tired of defending my decision to have the surgery! Thanks for
letting me vent!

Revision of RNY?

Friday, August 24th, 2007

Hi there, everyone!
Merry Christmas to those who celebrate it. And Happy Hanukkah to
those who celebrate that. All the rest, hope you’re doing well.
I have a question of those on the List who have investigated and/or
undergone a revision of their RNY surgery. What were the criteria
your revision surgeon required? I keep thinking I may have to jump
through some hoops. My insurance has changed a few times so don’t
know how the new insurance will handle this type of proposed
procedure.
My surgery was May 1, 1997 and I started at 386. I initially lost
about 200 pounds. However, I drank so much beer that I gained a
whole bunch back. And I rarely (if ever) exercise at this time.
Would the new surgeon have a requirement of a certain time period of
sobriety and some type of commitment to exercise?
Anyone try the Wish Center? How did that go? Anyone try a hypnotist?

Tuesday, August 21st, 2007

I had surgery on 10/17. I have lost 37# and I already feel much
better than before surgery. I am so confused about what
vitamins/minerals to take and where to get them without breaking the
bank.

Did anyone experience this?

Monday, August 20th, 2007

I just got out of the hospital yesterday. When I went in on Tuesday I
weighed 4 lbs less then when I got out. No food on Tuesday or
Wednesday, and of course only liquids on Wednesday. RNY.
Is this normal? I’m so disappointed.
Thanks,
Carolyn R.
