Obesity Surgery WP Blog

Has anyone on this list that has been diagnoised with Lupus had weight-
loss surgery. My PCP hinted at me having Lupus the other day although
she has ran no test and I difinitely don’t have any of the symptoms,
as I have been on the net all weekend looking it up. In fact it really
upsets me that a Physician would throw something like that at anyone
before first checking out a few test and facts.In fact I am just plain
ole Mad at her………………Pat
Oh, by the way, I had VBG 3 years ago and it has been a big flop so
I am wanting a revision to the RNY.

I had surgery on November 1st, 2005. I have lost 35 lbs. I was
wondering if their oare any others out there who had this type od
surgery. I would like to know everything. thanks Dee.

I just got out of the hospital yesterday. When I went in on Tuesday I
weighed 4 lbs less then when I got out. No food on Tuesday or
Wednesday, and of course only liquids on Wednesday. RNY.
Is this normal? I’m so disappointed.

I am so bloated I feel miserable. I have a difficult time urinating
and have had a small amount of waterery stool today.
My doc says walk, walk, walk? I get tired very easily. Anyone have
an answer?

Hi, my name is Wendy. My doctor told me that I might have to have the
gastric bypass done. I told him only as a LAST resort. Anyway, for
the past 2 months (?) I have been having a lot of trouble breathing.
This is a constant thing. I just can’t breathe. I have severe sleep
apnea, but that wouldn’t effect my breathing while awake. I am
wondering if any of you have or had the same problems. I had to go to
the ER about a month ago, but they couldn’t find what was causing my
not to be able to breathe. After about 2 weeks of going to the ER I
could breathe fine for a few weeks. Now, about a week now I can’t
breathe again. I’m really kind of scared.

I have only 4 days till surgury, Im surprised I’m not nervous yet.
Maybe spending Thanksgiving day and this AM convincing my Mom and
Stepdad Ill be fine helped that. Lost 10# 5 more that the dr said to
lose but hope for another 5 before surgury. I do hope this is the
right decision.

Just wanted to write a note to everyone. I had my surgery on the 17th.
I had two complications. One, he found a hernia and had to repair it.
The other, I had a sudden interruption of blood to my kidneys and they
tried to shut down. He called in a really good nephrologist, he got on
top ot it. I am still very weak but am getting stronger everyday. I
had it done lap which I am really grateful for. Thanks everyone for
all the thoughts and prayers. I felt every one of them. It is onward
and upward from here.

Well my surgery is finally over 11/17/05 and I am recovering nicely.

What can anyone tell me about intentional scaring of the stoma in the
pouch. My surgeon is suggesting this as an adjustment so addtional
weight can be lost. Only 65 lbs was lost and an addtional 40 needs to
come off. What are the pros and cons? It’s is three years since
surgery.
